Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) Cat

Oreo the Cat needs a home

Date of Birth: 2006

Oreo’s tale is a happy one. He was an abandoned cat that had been fending for himself for many years. It is a hard life for an animal that is homeless, and Oreo’s unfortunate circumstances had made him a very grumpy cat. When he was rescued, Oreo was not at all social and was definitely not a people-person pet.

It turns out that Oreo’s cantankerous personality was because he was in need of urgent, critical veterinary care. This poor feline must have been in constant pain due to severe dental problems and, once he had infected teeth extracted, he became a completely different cat. Gone was the grouchy personality and a sweet, affectionate, Oreo emerged.

Oreo is loving the companionship he now has with humans and the other foster felines. He seems to be making up for all those years of loneliness by spending as much time as he can playing with his foster friends or contently following his foster mom around to keep her company. He is so happy to be with other cats that he will often be found grooming them or snuggling with them. He enjoys cuddling with people too and is a lap cat extraordinaire.

Oreo is a healthy, affectionate, easy-going sweetie that just needs a loving, forever family to make his life a truly happy-ever-after story.

Oreo is Fabulous, Irresistable and Valued and  has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. This condition is something to take seriously, however, with the proper care, there are often minimal health issues as a result the FIV+ virus. For all cats, a good diet and regular veterinary checkups are important for lifelong health. FIV+ cats can have a normal lifespan and live as happy, lovable and playful cats.
